Spill Prevention Plans
Pyramid offers Spill Prevention, Control and
Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) assistance in compliance
consulting with 40 CFR 112 SPCC Plans.
Since 1973, the Federal Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) has used the SPCC plans as a
cornerstone of its strategy to prevent oil spills from
reaching our nation's waters. Owners and operators of
certain Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST) must have
and implement an SPCC Plan. This plan assures that a
spill from an AST is contained and countermeasures
are established to prevent an oil spill that could reach
navigable waters. A spill contingency plan is also
required as part of the SPCC plan if a facility is unable
to provide secondary containment.
An SPCC Plan is unique to each facility, describing the
particular configuration of the sites AST's as well as the
site's Underground Storage Tanks (UST). All SPCC
Plans list whether or not a site complies with the set of
general requirements under the 40 CFR 112.
